Me, Myself and I: The Dream Team

Welcome! Do you want to be a successful woman and help change the world at the same time? You have come to this site because you know what you want in your life. Or, you have come to this site because you are not sure of what you want. You know that you want to be successful, feel accomplished, achieve more than just your 15 minutes of fame. But how? By doing what?
One advantage we have nowadays is that with this economic debacle, whatever we do is going to have to include a new twist: social media technology. The world has taken quite a few turns since our generation began its journey in the “workplace.” It is no longer about having a “well paying job with benefits.” Those are rare and hard to find. Besides, if you do find one, can you feel secure that you will keep it? You can no longer count on employers or companies to deal honestly on your behalf – remember Enron? And traditional jobs just do not seem to have the “right fit” any longer for us. Economic debacle, new technology, unknown walkways: How will we survive it all?
In my experience of dealing with such unknowns (different than those now, but nevertheless “unknowns” then), I found that my “dream team” always worked best. I did not have the time to go down the wrong roads, so I developed an uncanny ability to analyze objectively the consequences of my proposed actions, put it to prayer, sleep on it overnight if necessary, and revisit it with a clear mind. I avoided a lot of wrong turns and complicated results using this technique. I “talked” a lot to myself, and like with a pancake, I flipped it over and over in my mind: Is this the way to approach it? Am I making the right choice? What else can I evaluate before I decide?
As I learned to feel more and more secure with myself, I mentally attracted persons in whom I could “bounce” my ideas off. I learned two things from this:
- Do not prejudge a person’s experience or lack of experience on a subject matter; you would be surprised at the varied ways insight can come to you.
- It is still your choice, your decision to make once you get the feedback.
I call this my “team approach” because it all starts with my relationship with myself and all its facets. The Me, Myself and I: More powerful than just the “I.” You may be surprised at how much insight is waiting inside you to guide you to the right resources to begin and grow your business. Whatever road you follow, it has to sing a “Warm Welcome” to you so that you can have your greatest chance of success. But, you must listen for the song!
Watch out for the traditional “business opportunities” like dog grooming, vitamins, diet sales. These, unless very well managed and marketed and in the right place at the right time, will be very difficult to build up in this new economy. Just the way the world changed dramatically when personal computers became commonplace, the public is now immersed in the new marketplace: the exploding world of Social Media. The greatest opportunities for economic growth and personal achievement will now be available for those who re-train themselves and work in the growing industry of Social Media Marketing. Like all new highly popular opportunities, watch out for “scam” training companies. Check their credentials with snopes.com and other similar web sites, with your state Attorney General or the Better Business Bureau. Better yet, try to locate former or graduated students of their programs and ask about their experiences with the training. Was it clear? Did it meet their expectations? Are they happy with where the training took them?
If you can explore these opportunities as a team with others you know and trust, a sibling, close friend, daughter or other person, then go for it! It is easier to have someone who shares a similar goal, especially in a new experience, than to go at it alone. Each may have a strength the other does not, and vice versa. Besides, it can be more fun if you are properly matched and respectful of one another. Having a healthy relationship with yourself allows you to build one with others. Share your ideas, listen with interest to their ideas, and always speak your truth quietly and clearly. Become a “Sabia” entrepreneur!
